Brotherhood
Peer circles and mentor matches on your campus — people who check in, hold you accountable, and celebrate your wins.
Mentee application
SPIE programming — Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, and Emotional growth — with peers and mentors who have your back.
What you get
The SUMMIT began at ODU in 2017 and serves first-generation students of color across Hampton Roads. Our primary program hub is Old Dominion University, where we are listed as an official peer mentoring program. Mentees and mentors from other local campuses are welcome.
Too many brilliant students navigate college without the networks, mentors, or belief they deserve. SUMMIT members challenge themselves, grow through SPIE programming, and lead on campus and at national stages like BEYA and the National Mentoring Summit.

SPIE growth
Spiritual, Physical, Intellectual, and Emotional development — whole-person support, not just GPA.
Career ready
Resume workshops, mock interviews, career fairs, and conference trips that build real professional networks.
Beyond graduation
90+ affiliated STEM-H graduates and strong multi-year retention — see impact definitions.
The SPIE framework
Every member grows across four dimensions. You will name your focus areas in the application below.
Purpose, integrity, and values that anchor decisions through college and career.
Wellness habits and discipline that support energy, focus, and resilience.
Academic excellence, critical thinking, and continuous learning.
Self-awareness, community, and the courage to lead through challenge.
“The need has never been greater. The SUMMIT exists to meet it — one student, one mentor, one breakthrough at a time.”
